Welcome to our beautiful home. Dating back to the 18th century, La Borde has been lovingly converted by ourselves to provide our guests with all the comforts of 21st century living, whilst retaining many original features, such as exposed oak beams and stone walls. Shown here is one of 2 large terraces, enabling you to follow the sun from dawn to dusk.
Situated in the Tarn et Garonne region of the Midi-Pyrenees, La Borde is just over an hour from Toulouse airport. The village of Verfiel-sur-Seye is 2km away, so easily accessible on foot, should you wish to stroll. There is a well-stocked shop and bar-restaurant. The town of St Antonin Noble Val is just a 15 minute drive away. Here there is a wonderful street market on a Sunday. A must to browse and buy your essentials of wines and cheeses. You can hire a canoe and spend a lazy day on the Aveyron. The medieval towns of Najac and Cordes-sur-Ceil are also on the doorstep. The area is ideal for walking and cycling. There are many kilometres of well-kept, off-road tracks to explore. If fishing is your passion, the crystal clear rivers have many species including barbel, carp, trout and pike. There is also a riding stables nearby where you can explore the area on horseback.
With Summer temperatures between 30 - 35°C, you are sure to be able to worship the sun, if that is what you crave! Our salt-water pool is ideal for cooling off after exploring the area. We have an extensive library to suit most tastes and plenty of board games for you to enjoy.
Getting to us is easy. Flights from most major UK airports come into Toulouse or Rodez, or if you chose to drive down, ferries sail to Calais, Dieppe or Cherbourg, to name 3 of the ports.
An excellent property with great facilities. Situated in a quiet rural area, holidaying here was sublimely peaceful. My daily walks took me off the beaten track to enjoy the countryside and the nature of the surrounding area. Followed by relaxing afternoons at the pool, and in evenings we enjoyed the local cuisine and of course the local wines. The hosts were brilliant and maintain the lovely property exceptionally well. Forget the beaches, this is where it is at! Guest rating: * * * * *
We have stayed in this region of France several times over the past 12 years. We have rented many different properties, but La Borde is definitely at the top of our list. The house is beautiful, with everything you would need for a relaxing holiday. The pool is very well maintained and was much enjoyed during a heatwave. The beds are comfortable and all the bedrooms are large and immaculately decorated. The views from the house are breathtaking, and the area is quiet and peaceful with lots of interesting local walks. However, it is not too far from St Antonin and other towns in the area. On arrival the owners, Becky and Dave, left us a variety of essential provisions and baked us a wonderful cake. We have never received such wonderful hospitality before. We have already booked our family holiday at La Borde next year. it comes with our highest recommendation.

Our stay at La Borde was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the serene Ginals region of France, this charming retreat is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The owners have lovingly converted an old farmhouse into a warm, inviting haven that feels more like a home than a rental. The peaceful surroundings provide an ideal backdrop for relaxation, and the beautiful local towns, like Najac, are just a short drive away. Exploring the markets in these towns was a delight, offering a taste of authentic French culture. On hot summer days, the blissfully cool swimming pool was the perfect way to unwind. Every aspect of La Borde has been thoughtfully designed, making it a truly special place to stay. We left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, and we can't wait to return.

This was my first time back to this region of France for over 20 years. I found the perfecct place to unwind, be it reading in the cozy chair in the corner of the dining room at breakfast time, overlooking the views, or sitting in the swing hammock under the gazebo in the afternoon. I could not have asked for more. Everything was catered for from the fully stocked cupboards where I found all the spices I wanted for my overnight oats, to the toiletries and thoughtful touches left in my room. I will definitely return.

I am Becky and my husband is David and we would like to welcome you to La Borde. David is an artisan builder who has lovingly restored every square metre of our delightful home, whilst I have been in charge of furnishing it. Many of the pieces have been sourced from brocante shops and re-imagined by ourselves to give the comfortable surroundings we hope you will enjoy.
Our daughter, Katie, and I organised a surprise “Big” birthday weekend for Dave in the Midi-Pyrenees. A keen mountain biker, we decided to sneak his bike onto the plane (not an easy feat for us) and headed off from Gatwick for Toulouse airport. It was December and the weekend weather was amazing; early morning frosts gave way to bright sunshine. Trusty bike re-assembled, off Dave set to explore the gorges and cliffs of the Aveyron, with St Antonin Noble Val as our base. The Sunday market in the town was one of the highlights. Even in December it is one of the busiest markets of the region. Drinking coffee and eating croissants on the terrace of the Café de la Halle was the perfect place for people-watching. We were hooked! We swapped our lives in Britain, moved ourselves, 3 horses, 2 cats and a dog to the area to renovate a derelict bistro in Verfeil-sur-Seye to open it as “Le Rendez Vous” (now Les 2 Tontons Zingueurs). Whilst living in the region every time I drove to Caylus, I passed a little group of stone buildings and always thought to myself “I’d love to live there”. A turn of fate enabled us to purchase one of the buildings and after 13 painstaking years, we have our beautiful house in this very special corner of SW France.
Steeped in history, there are so many bastide towns and villages to explore. During the Summer months you will never want for a fête, whether it be music or gourmand! Beautiful castles open their ramparts for you to explore. The flora and fauna of the area is exquisite. Don't just take our word for it, come and visit!
On the ground floor is one double bedroom and one twin room. The double room has a door out to the covered terrace that leads to the pool. The twin room has the option to be converted into a double room. There is a shared bathroom with a bath and a shower. A cozy reading room/office space has french doors onto the side of the property. There is also a utility room with a 10kg washing machine. An internal staircase leads to the kitchen/diner and living rooms. The kitchen is fully equipped with a range oven, dishwasher, American style fridge/freezer with cold water and ice on demand. There are plenty of cook books and every utensil you need to create a gastronomic meal, if it takes your fancy. If your idea of a holiday in France is waking up to freshly made espresso, we even have a genuine, café barista machine. From the kitchen, bi-fold doors take you to one of the terraces where you can watch the sun come up over the hills and breakfast at the refectory-style table. The living room is furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs. There is an extensive library catering for most tastes. A door leads to another terrace where you can dine at night and watch the sun set. If you are lucky, you may even catch sight of deer and hares in the neighbouring fields! Steps lead down to the pool area and garden from here. From the living room another staircase leads to the attic bedroom. This is an en-suite room with double bed. A dormer window gives you a wonderful view over the grounds. We know that travelling light means that you have to leave certain essentials behind, so we have provided bathrobes, slippers and towels for our guests. Each bedroom also has a hairdryer and a selection of toiletries.
